Tick Tock: Setting the Clock
$3.99
"Time is more than just a number, it's the heartbeat of every story."
In Tick Tock: Setting the Clock, readers discover how time anchors setting and unlocks meaning in literature. This book, part of the Full Circle of Language Arts: Reading for Retrieval learning literature series, emphasizes the vital role of tangible textual evidence: dates, eras, cultural details, and chronological shifts, that help students step into a story's world with clarity and depth.
As the first book in the TRACKS sequence, this resource gives teachers and students concrete tools for recognizing how historical and cultural settings provide the earliest and most essential clues for comprehension. By focusing on time as evidence, readers learn how to make informed observations, deepen contextual understanding, and strengthen their ability to retrieve and apply textual evidence in meaningful ways.
Ideal for classroom teachers, literacy coaches, reading interventionists, curriculum specialists, and homeschool educators, this book provides an accessible framework for teaching students to identify and interpret time-based evidence across genres and text types. Whether preparing for state assessments, leading whole-class discussions, or working in small groups, educators will find Tick Tock: Setting the Clock a practical, engaging, and highly effective guide.
Students who learn to ask "Where are we?" AND "When are we?" unlock deeper layers of meaning in every text they encounter.
"In the world of stories, time isn't just background, it's the key that makes every setting shine."

"Every great reader has a secret superpower: Prediction Clues shows you how to unlock it."
What if your students could step into every text armed with secret tools that unlocked what was coming next? Prediction Clues brings that possibility to life, giving teachers and students the strategies they need to predict with confidence and purpose.
Part of the Full Circle of Language Arts: Reading for Retrieval series, this book adds another powerful piece to the learning literature. Using the engaging character Polly Prediction and her three trusted tools, Genre Goggles, Feature Finder, and Structure Scanner, educators can show students how to use characteristics of genre, text features, and text structures to anticipate meaning before it unfolds.
Teachers will find this book especially useful because it provides a clear, practical framework for guiding students in making informed predictions rather than random guesses. By teaching students how to recognize and apply textual signals, Prediction Clues helps sharpen comprehension, focus attention, and create active readers who engage deeply with text.
This resource is ideal for classroom teachers, reading specialists, interventionists, curriculum designers, and literacy coaches. Whether used in whole-class instruction, small groups, or independent practice, it provides both instructional clarity and student-friendly tools that can be applied across grade levels.
The biggest takeaway? Teachers now have a ready-to-use tool for helping students make predictions with accuracy and purpose, a skill that empowers them to read with confidence, curiosity, and joy.
Open these pages, and you'll discover how one simple set of tools can transform passive readers into reading detectives who can't wait to uncover what's next.

"Every story has a hidden thread, a message that ties everything together."
If you've ever wondered how to teach the difference between THEME and AUTHOR’S MESSAGE, this unforgettable piece of learner’s literature is your answer.
In this heartwarming tale, siblings Max and Penny make the journey from story listeners to story tellers, with the help of their wise grandmother and the discovery of a mysterious concept called “the hidden thread.” As they spin a tale of a boy named Oliver and his quest to become the fastest runner, Max and Penny begin to realize that stories are more than words on a page, they hold deeper meaning, waiting to be uncovered.
The Hidden Thread introduces children to the vital skill of Reading for Retrieval, a foundational habit in Randi Whitney’s Full Circle of Language Arts series. While her companion educator guide Reading for Retrieval equips teachers with structured comprehension strategies using the four reading dimensions (Taught, Tap, Think, Toggle), The Hidden Thread transforms those ideas into an engaging, child-friendly narrative.
Perfect for classroom teachers, reading interventionists, and homeschool families, this beautifully illustrated book helps children:
Discover central ideas and the author’s message
Practice retelling and summarizing using text-based evidence
Understand character motivation and emotional growth
Make meaningful connections between fiction and real life
Whether used in read-alouds, guided comprehension mini-lessons, or meaningful conversation starters, The Hidden Thread makes the invisible visible, showing readers how to trace meaning through every story they hear or tell.
When young readers learn to find the thread… they learn to find the meaning.

“Every story begins somewhere, but the best stories begin with purpose.”
Writing Grows on TREES invites readers into a whispering forest where a curious student discovers a powerful truth: trees are more than part of nature: they are part of every story we read and every story we write. Through gentle dialogue and vivid imagery, this book blends science and imagination, showing how trees grow, breathe, and even become the pages that hold our words. As readers journey alongside Penny, they begin to see that just like every tree has unique rings and a story of its own, every writer has a voice waiting to be shaped into something meaningful.
But this book is more than a beautiful story: it is a bridge.
A bridge between reading and writing. A bridge between wonder and structure. A bridge between imagination and academic excellence.
Within the classroom, Writing Grows on TREES becomes a powerful launching point for teaching students how to craft quality extended constructed response essays. The story naturally models the idea that strong writing grows with intention, structure, and purpose, just like a tree.
Students are inspired to see writing not as a task, but as a living, growing process:
Thesis Statement becomes the Trunk: the strong, central idea that holds everything together.
Reasons/Ways become Branch #1: the first extension of thinking that supports the thesis.
Evidence becomes Branch #2: the proof that strengthens and validates the ideas.
Explanation becomes Branch #3: the clarity that helps ideas make sense and connect.
Significant Inferencing becomes the Bluebird: the understanding that lifts off, carrying the lesson or theme beyond the page to share with the world.
As students reflect on the journey from tree to book, they begin to understand that writing is not just putting words on paper: it is building something strong enough to stand and meaningful enough to travel.
Educators will find this book useful for:
Introducing a writing unit focused on extended constructed responses
Teaching the structure of a high-quality essay in a meaningful, memorable way
Creating cross-curricular connections between science (trees, environment) and ELA (reading and writing)
Sparking deep discussions about growth, uniqueness, and perspective
Supporting visual and metaphorical learners through concrete comparisons
Igniting student engagement and ownership in the writing process
Providing a mentor text for both narrative and expository writing
Encouraging students to see themselves as authors with something important to say.
Writing Grows on TREES is a powerful way to ignite a passion for essay writing within the classroom while building the foundational skills students need to succeed. As a beginning to any unit on writing, it offers both heart and structure, reminding students that their ideas matter and that their words can grow into something extraordinary.

One tiny envelope can carry a message big enough to change a forest.
Deep beneath the roots of an old oak tree lives Mortimer, known far and wide as Mailbox Mouse, the forest’s most faithful letter carrier. But when he discovers a mysterious envelope with no name and no address, Mortimer embarks on a heartwarming journey through Maplewood Hollow to find its intended reader. Along the way, readers will meet colorful forest friends, hear a powerful anonymous message, and witness the moment when the beauty of the written word brings an entire community together.
This tender tale reminds young readers, and their teachers, that words matter, and that even the smallest letter can leave the biggest impact.
Perfect for every literacy-rich classroom, Mailbox Mouse celebrates the purpose, power, and emotional depth of written communication in a way children will understand, remember, and want to practice themselves.
This piece of learner’s literature beautifully complements the teacher’s content area of written constructed response and pairs perfectly with the Full Circle of Language Arts instructional resource Writing with Purpose by Randi Whitney. Whether used as a mentor text for modeling meaningful writing, launching mini-lessons, or sparking classroom discussion, this story serves as an essential tool for teachers, homeschooling parents, reading coaches, educational therapists, and interventionists alike. It turns a narrative into a teachable moment, where students see the real reason we write: to connect.
Sometimes, the best messages don’t need a name, they just need to be shared.

This highly effective resource teaches students to decode before they sound out, helping them make sense of the word structure before producing the sound. Instead of relying on guesswork or the outdated “sound-it-out” method alone, Decode Mode trains the brain to read systemically. Students learn to identify the vowel sound first, then scan the word from left to right for blends, digraphs, and vowel teams. This process results in greater accuracy, fluency, and word recognition, especially for struggling readers.
Created as part of the Phonics Forever curriculum line from the best-selling Full Circle of Language Arts series, this book can be used as a phonics intervention tool, a small group reading lesson, or a whole class reading technique guide. Penny Puts the Pieces Together
$5.99
“A thesis feels big, but it is really just three pieces.”
Penny Puts the Pieces Together invites students into a classroom where Penny stares at the blinking line on a blank writing page. The prompt is on the board: Explain why recess is important. Pencils scratch all around her, and she is sure she has nothing to say. Her teacher kneels beside her with a secret. A thesis is not one giant task. It is three pieces, found one at a time.
But this book is more than a classroom story: it is a bridge.
A bridge between a prompt and a thesis. A bridge between a stuck student and a clear plan. A bridge between a song the class can sing and the writing they put on the page.
Within the classroom, Penny Puts the Pieces Together becomes a launching point for teaching students how to plan a first draft and develop an engaging idea. The story supports TEKS 11(A), planning a first draft by choosing a topic, a purpose, and what the prompt asks, and TEKS 11(B)(ii), where a thesis is the topic, the charge, and the answer. Piece one is the topic: Penny circles the most important noun, recess. Piece two is the charge: she boxes what she has to show, that recess is important. A clue word, why, tells her the answer must give a reason, and she triangles it. Piece three is the answer, and only the student can give it. Penny's answer is that recess helps students learn better. She puts the three pieces together out loud, and the blank page is no longer scary. The companion song, Three Pieces to a Thesis, turns the steps into a chant the whole class can sing: circle the noun, box the verb, triangle the answer in your own words. Topic plus charge plus answer makes a thesis.
Students are inspired to see a thesis not as a task, but as three pieces they can find:
Topic becomes the circle: the most important noun in the prompt.
Charge becomes the box: what the prompt asks the student to show.
Clue word becomes the triangle: the word that tells how to answer.
Answer becomes the student's own words: the piece only that student can give.
Thesis becomes the three pieces together: topic plus charge plus answer, ready to write.
As students move from Penny's prompt to a prompt of their own, they begin to understand that planning a first draft is not staring at a blank page: it is hunting for three pieces and putting them together.
Educators will find this book useful for:
Introducing a writing unit focused on planning a first draft
Teaching a thesis as the topic, the charge, and the answer
Showing students how to mark a prompt: circle the noun, box the charge, and triangle the clue and the answer
Pairing the story with the song Three Pieces to a Thesis so the class can chant the steps
Supporting TEKS 11(A) and 11(B)(ii) with a mentor text students play online
Giving students a clear central idea before an extended constructed response
Building student confidence before they write on their own
Preparing students for the writing they show on STAAR/SST
Penny Puts the Pieces Together is a clear way to open any unit on thesis writing. It offers both a story students want to finish and a structure they can use the same day.
